Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her Pho EP. This was the moment that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks on the internet in 2012 after she dropped her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she released additional music on the internet including Bound. Sweat It is part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. Later that year her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. The singer appeared on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October of 2016, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and performed as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox performed on two tracks with EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas On Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. Two singles more were released by her on November 13 with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single as a way in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within a week, it had over 3,000,000 views. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
